The Vision of Xa Loi Temple Meditation Center: Transforming into the Beauty Within
2003
In 2001 the 33 acre overgrown and trash filled farmland was purchased. After ten years of remodeling the building and cleaning up the property, the Meditation Center was transformed into it's current beautiful state. Just as the property has been transformed, we all can transform the world within and around us.

In 2001 after the 911 attacks and the sniper shootings in Washington DC area, Master Bao Thanh was inspired to build a Meditation Center in the D.C. Metropolitan area to be a place where people could come and transform their lives and transform the world. The land and temple are a spiritual oasis meant to be a place of peace and healing for all people. The spiritual foundation of the temple is Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhism, with monks, nuns, and Hanh Su’s (Lay ministers) who daily maintain the monastic practices of meditation and prayer. It has been Master Bao Thanh’s vision to have the temple be a community center where all can share in the traditions of the temple, but also bring their gifts and practices of healing body, mind and spirit. In the Buddha’s teachings, there are no divisions, when we share our compassion and wisdom, we are sharing our Buddha nature, and Bodhisattva vows to help all sentient beings.

This second mini-retreat builds upon the first. Master Bao Thanh will explain how to develop and open even more the inner-healing energy we all possess.
Using the compassion mantra's of That Bao Huyen Mon, and other meditation tools, we will break through blockages and allow the healing energy to flow through our bodies, minds and spirit.
All are welcome, whether you attended the first retreat or not.
The retreat is free, but there will be an opportunity to make an offering to support the temple for those who are able.
