Seeking a Deeper Spiritual Practice?

Hanh-Su Three-Year Training Program:

The Hanh-Su Training Program is a unique three-year path of study and practice for those who wish to deepen their understanding of the Dharma and dedicate themselves to compassionate service. Rooted in the Mahayana Buddhist tradition, the program blends study, meditation, and community engagement in a way that is accessible to lay practitioners while also providing a foundation for those who may later choose to pursue monastic life.
Program OverviewOver three years, participants will:
  • Study Core Sutras and Teachings: Learn and reflect on foundational Buddhist texts, including wisdom, compassion, and the cultivation of the Bodhisattva path.
  • Practice Daily Meditation and Ritual: Develop a consistent practice of mindfulness, mantra recitation, and traditional ceremonies such as repentance and prayers for the living and deceased.
  • Serve the Community: Engage in compassionate action, supporting both the temple and wider community through volunteerism, teaching assistance, and care for others.
  • Integrate Buddhist Ethics: Deepen commitment to the Five Precepts and cultivate virtues of generosity, patience, loving-kindness, and wisdom in daily life.
Pathways After Completion
  • Lay Hanh-Su: Graduates may continue as committed lay Hanh-Su, living in the world while upholding vows of service and practicing the Dharma as householders, community leaders, and spiritual guides.
  • Monastic Training: For those who feel called to a life of renunciation, the Hanh-Su program provides a strong foundation to enter full monastic training, with guidance and support from the temple’s teachers and community.
This program honors both paths as equally valuable expressions of the Bodhisattva spirit: serving with wisdom and compassion, whether as a lay practitioner or as a monk or nun.
